Praying as a Family

John Piper once said; “Unless I am badly mistaken, one of the main reasons so many of God’s children don’t have a significant life of prayer is not so much that we don’t want to, but that we don’t plan to.”

I think he is right, that’s why we want to give you a plan. In this Family Prayer section, you will find guides which will help you individually or as a family pray.  Each guide will feature a unique theme along with various scriptures, guiding you to pray in different ways and for different things.

At the beginning of each guide, you will find Bible verses which will help set your attention on God. They will help you remember His goodness and His presence.

In the Hello God section, you will find suggestions to help you get into an attitude of prayer.

Next is a time of Praise and Thanks. Here you will discover a Bible verse or two which will remind you how important it is to start your prayer time with praise and with thanksgiving.

Then you come to a time of Focusing Your Mind, Heart and Spirit. Here you will find Bible verses and prayer prompts to help you focus your attention on God and His grandeur.

Next is the section entitled Praying God Size PrayersWhen we pray it is important to think beyond our needs and pray about the things God is trying to accomplish in our lives and throughout His world.

Now comes the time for Your Request. You may notice this comes towards the end of the prayer time. When you pray, it is so important to first concentrate on God and consider what He is doing before you begin to pray about the things in your life.

Next comes Praying for Others. Who has God put around you that needs your prayers; a family member, a friend, maybe someone you really don’t know but the Holy Spirit has just put them on your mind. Take a few moments and pray for others.

And then comes Closing Thoughts. Here you will find another Bible verse or two which will encourage you and help you conclude your prayer time by considering how good God is.

These guides are here to give you some help and ideas. Use what you need but, most importantly, spend time praying with your family.
